A Decedent and Futuristic New Years Eve Experience
Celebrating LGBT Progress of Today and Tomorrow
NEW YORK, NY On December 31st, Voss Events will host its 7th Annual New Years Eve celebration, The Reflections Gala, at the legendary New York Palace Hotel in what is expected to be the citys most decadent, gay, end-of-year bash ever. The gala will take place in the hotel's historic Villard Mansion, a Roman Renaissance-style palazzo comprised of five landmarked rooms, all lovingly preserved to retain their Gilded Age grandness. In each room, performance artist Darrel Thorne will create tableaus for an exhibit aptly named Reflections of the Future in which he will utilize live artists, projections and costumes in visual representations of imagined future realities. Inyang Bassey and The Heathens will provide the evenings live music while DJ Jason Angola mans the turntables. Leading into midnight, all of the artists from the different tableaus will converge onto the main stage of the Madison Ballroom
for the evenings epic jaw-stopping spectacle. A premium open bar will continue all night.
New Years Eve is always our flagship, black-tie event, explains producer Brandon Voss of Voss Events. Each year, we try to one up ourselves.
In September, I caught a news report on how President Obama had bucked tradition while visiting New York, abandoning the Waldorf Astoria and choosing to stay at the New York Palace instead, he continues. I thought, what better place to celebrate New Years Eve than the presidents hotel of choice ? The Palace s Villard mansion is one of the most iconic and recognizable venues in New York City and the interiors make for one of the most spectacular event spaces I've seen.
The mansion was built in 1884 for Henry Villard, then president of the Northern Pacific Railway. It boasts a grand staircase, several unique rooms, multiple fireplaces, high ceilings with elegant moldings and a magnificent courtyard.
Guests of NEW YEARS EVE: REFLECTIONS GALA will begin the evening at 9pm with a three-course seated dinner prepared by the hotels master chef. They will then enjoy the art exhibition followed by performances and dancing.
Gay events of this caliber are rare but we have so much to celebrate and reflect upon this year, says Voss.Same-sex marriage was legalized in the United States, we are finally getting the attention we deserve in government and pop culture… the fact that an event like this is taking place in one of the citys most distinguished venues:that alone is progress!
These recent achieve ments are only the beginning, Voss adds. We will reflect upon them at NEW YEARS EVE: REFLECTIONS GALA while also celebrating the promise of the New Year.”
